The Master Gardeners of Union County have scheduled the Union County Heritage Festival on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the UC Agricultural Center in Monroe. The event is a celebration of the natural, cultural, and historical heritage of Union County, with the aim to provide education and inspiration to attain and sustain a healthy lifestyle, community and environment.
The event includes the Wild Turkey 5K Trail Run and Walk, benefiting the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue, beginning at 8 a.m. Registration available on-line at http://wildturkey5k.racesonline. The festival will feature a vendor fair, the Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale, heritage arts demonstrations, kids’ creative and educational activities, raffle prizes, food and blue grass bands, and free talks and cooking demonstrations by local experts.
The Union County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers’ mission is to foster a partnership to create a sustainable community through education and implementation. They offer Successful Gardener classes to the public, maintain a website of useful gardening information, monitor a call system called the Growline at 704-283-3822 or UC Master Gardeners and offer three Sales events per year.
